I also remember this character, but not the book it derived from. My late mother used to refer to someone who had tooth "issues" as Toothy Perkins; I was telling my daughter-in-law about him in reference to my grandson, whose first teeth seem unusually large. This must have been a 50's phenomenon!... and brought back some silly memories. (Did you ever find the title?)
In the late '40's there was, I think, a Little Golden Book published that had a character in it named Toothy Perkins. Toothy was a dog, and at first I thought the book was The Poky Little Puppy, but I've discovered that that was not it. Does anyone have any idea what the title of this book was? It was my brother's favorite, and I'd like to give it to him for his 55th birthday.
