The book you are looking for is called Popcorn Party and it is a rand McNally Book - Elf Book #468. You had most of the story right except the lady is celebrating her 100th birthday. Yes, the firedepartment shows up but at 100 I don't think she got any proposal for marriage. She did however promise never to pop 5 pounds of popcorn in her fireplace again for a party! I remember reading over and over when I was a child (born in 1953) a book about an elderly lady who was making popcorn and made so much it filled up her house and was coming out the windows - the fire dept. came to the rescue. Does any one know the name of this book? It would mean alot to me! A love popcorn and married a fireman!
