The story takes place in an apartment building & those who lived in the 1st floor apt got a living Christmas tree. As the tree grew they cut a hole in the ceiling so the tree actually ended up growing into the 3rd story apt. The families (I think-one with 2 children, couple with baby and elderly couple) became friends & celebrated Christmas together. It was one of my daughter's favorites & I'd like to find it now for my grandson.
