The capital letter ABCD comes first. The lower case letter abcd comes second AND the doubles aa bb cc or AA BB CC I believe are also second . The little golden book usually have the first example.The golden guides and stamp books are examples of the second description.
I do not believe I've ever found an a as a first edition.

I have only been collecting for about a year or so and I am learning all the time.
I saw in a recent post of your that when you are finding an edition of a book lower case letters came after uper case. Example - "ABCDEFG" = 1st edition and "abcdefg" = 27th edition is this correct? For some reason (and I do not know where I got this idea - I may have dreamed it LOL) I thought "A" and "a" were both first editions and if it had a "AA" or "aa" it would be a 27th edition. If a book has "aa" would this book actually be a 53rd edition?
