Hi, I don't know if you found the book you were looking for, but in addition to The Taxi that Hurried, another possibility is Volksy, the Little Yellow Car. It's a Tip-Top Elf Book, about a yellow Volkswagen. I just saw it on Vintagechildrensbooks.com.

I had as book as a child that had a little yellow car on the cover. It was a story about it's adventures as I recall. It would have been from the seventies I think.? Does anyone know what it was?
