Can someone please tell me how LGB condition is "measured"? What is fair, poor, excellent????? Help!

It states a new book is mint. An book with missing pages and writing is junk. A book that is read but not written in nor torn anywhere is good. An average book with rubbing on the covers, a name in the front and bent pages is good. A poor book is complete but well read with dogeared pages, writing and a dirty look.
