I just received from a seller on ebay a copy of National Velvet that was listed as "vintage 1961 "A" edition. I can't tell if it is or not. (1) It is marked 25 cents, # 431 (2) The copyright page says "copyright 1961, MGM. No indication of edition on that page (3) There is no letter on the last page near the spine. (4) The inside back covers lists the latest LGB as #421 "Captain Kangaroo and Panda" latest Disney book D91 Pollyanna Is this a first edition? Obiviously it is not an "A" since it is not labeled so. Confused

Everything you've mentioned would lead me to believe it's a first edition. The "A" could be buried under the spine so you'd want to be very careful when you take a peek.
